What is royal jelly?

Royal jelly is a nutritious bee product produced by bees in their own bodies. Bees produce royal jelly in their bodies to feed their offspring and queen bees. Therefore, royal jelly can be compared to human breast milk and it is at least as valuable due to its nutritional values.

The main food of the queen bee

Royal jelly is also similar to breast milk. It is off-white in color, has a peculiar smell and a thick consistency. It contains approximately 66% water, 15% sugar, 5% fat, 13% protein with high amino acids, vitamins (especially group B vitamins) and various minerals.

Royal jelly is also a special product because it contains the very special protein 10-HDA , which is not found in other products. The 10-HDA component is an important parameter that determines the quality of the product. If the royal jelly was obtained from beehives with high-quality pollen and nectar, the 10-HDA ratio is higher. If the nectar and pollen quality decreases, the quality of the royal jelly also decreases.

Royal jelly is the only source of food for queen bees. Normal worker bees are fed royal jelly just 3-4 days after they are born and go on with their lives. Only the queen bee eats royal jelly for the rest of her life.

The queen bee feeds on royal jelly all her life and lives a completely different life than her siblings. While a normal worker bee lives 45 days, thanks to royal jelly, the queen bee lives an average of 5-7 years. Thanks to royal jelly, the queen bee lives about 56 times longer than other bees.

The queen bee also gains physical superiority thanks to royal jelly. She develops on average 2 times more than her siblings. Therefore, the queen bee is one of the most productive animals in nature. Royal jelly increases the fertility of the queen bee. And so the queen bee lays an average of two thousand eggs a day, ensuring the survival of the hive.
